Artsy Smartsy Fridays!

This is an arts-based pre-literacy program for preschoolers and their caregivers. The pilot program is being offered once a month September through May at Osceola Public Library. Each 90-minute class begins with a story followed by art projects based on the storybook’s illustrations or theme.

Artsy Smartsy programming goes on the road! If you are interested in hosting Artsy Smartsy classes at your library, group daycare, or other preschool-friendly environment, please contact me! The cost is $45 for each 90-minute class, plus a $10 materials fee per each parent/child team (and $5 for each additional child), plus mileage.

Classes currently available include: Bookish Bugs, Cool Collages, Junkyard Adventure, Painting Music, Playing with Picasso, Pollock and a Plethora of Printmaking, Something’s Fishy, We Got Game, and What’s Your Impression.

Altered Books @ OPL!

This is a creative community-centered pilot program for adults and older teens offered every Saturday January through March at Osceola Public Library. The first two sessions will be largely general instruction about altered books; each following two-hour session will begin with a new technique followed by time for creating and sharing of ideas.

Altered Books @ OPL is meant to be a way for a community not only to wile away those long winter hours, but to enjoy them!

Interested in hosting Altered Books at your library or other venue? While Altered Books @ OPL is essentially a 12-session program, I can tailor an introductory program to get participants in your organization well on their way to creating their own community of Altered Book Artists. Altered Books programs will be available beginning in Spring 2010 – contact me for details!
